I believe these are "Cannon" style connectors and that they are
generally screwed onto the existing connection in order to prevent
dirt, dust, etc., from getting inside.  If you unscrew the cap, the
connector should come off and you'll see the socket inside.

With the right conductor configuration and diameter, you should be
able to order a connector that is compatible with the socket.
