or just have it at the bottom of every listserv message! <grin!>

It is indeed one of the best hints I learned here! Thanks Wayne!

Rob,

Clear vinyl tubing, 7/16 OD, 5/16 ID, cut to 7/8 inch long. Remove rubber
hammer best you can and then slide the tubing piece on all the way to the
bottom of the metal T of the hammer curved side facing the platen.

I should save this advice as a macro I guess. LOL.

Wayne

go with tubing asap.... to easy to have it degrade when not looking
and eat the type wheel...
A GOOD TYPE WHEEL IS A HORRIBLE THING TO WASTE!

The rubber hammer on my 33 is still largely intact. When I used the
machine briefly over the summer the hammer developed a depression, possibly
caused by softening with the summer heat. I have posted some pictures here:
http://sdrv.ms/1dOUMwT. I am wondering if I should keep it while it lasts
(keeping an eye on it all the time of course), or should I just replace it
anyway with the plastic tubing?

How is the rubber attached anyway?

Regards

Rob
