[GreenKeys] Connecting a Model 14?

So I got Heavy Metal installed and wired up the 1/8" plug to the serial
port (3 and 5). Heavy Metal seems to be properly detecting the serial port
on COM1... but sending data doesn't work. Do I need to create any "jumpers"
or anything on the serial connector?
