[GreenKeys] QSO's with glass tubes

Tony,

I don't think any thoughtful person would disagree with any of your
observations. My personal count on this score is now up to five. and
that includes one young man who never got on the air even after I gave him a
complete station including antenna. simultaneously he discovered girls.

One parent decided that ham radio was distracting her son from more
important activities like soccer and his piano practice---I guess he simply
gave up on ham radio.

The key is still the parents and now there is usually only one of those.
Of course, the people who will say you are hopelessly inaccurate are the
ones who have children who behave exactly as you describe.

But then, in order to "advertise" ham radio I proposed that we erect a sign
on a building during field day: "Come see free exhibit of Advanced
Texting" since there was an RTTY setup. "Oh no, we can't do that."

My XYL (also a ham) says we have simply become a nation of wimps.
