[GreenKeys] Two eBay Novelties

Dave & all,

I worked on the 900 tickers in Springfield, MA. They look like 28's I believe. Purple fingers at the end of the day.

In Wichita, KS, they had the 5A's for the commodities exchange. We had one old timer who worked on them. He had the walking route and used a grocery style 2 wheel hand cart in his work.

Most of the brokers in Wichita had switched to the TransLux? large display. Little hinged reflective green dots which air flipped over to form a character. The reset air flipped them all back.

The second link is a ticker as Dave noted. It was used right after the glass domed tickers which could not keep up with the quotations during the crash of 29. It is sometimes called the “black box” but was known as the 5A. I own two of these. One of, which Mr TTY himself K0TTY/WA2WHJ got repaired and working for me. It is a 6-bit device. Here is proof!

here are more photos and assorted “stuff” and some stuff related to the later, model 900 ticker.

and I have to show off my New York Quotation ticker…

WWII Navy Western Electric Model FRF Receiver Frequency Shift Ham For Teletype
This is an odd duck...Navy dual-channel I.F. demodulator with 170 shift, but preset at eight odd military frequencies, designed to interface with 1940 RBB/RBC battleship receivers. There is stuff on the web if you search with the "CW-####" FRF numbers. "Not for shipboard use", but the shipboard equivalent equipment seems to have been canceled. Which would explain why this unit was never used. I sent mail to the seller suggesting they list the associated teletype machine they still have crated up! (That could be very interesting!)

Telegraph / Teletype Machine WUTEL Western Union Quotation Service
This ticker is missing the motor (and other parts?)
