I bought a TT-98/FG Kleinschmidt on epay .
I paid around $150 plus $80 shipping back in Nov. 2011. It was
refurbished at Tobyhanna
Army Depot, PA. It never was used after refurbished in 1983. The platen,
type basket assembly,
keyboard assemble was brand new. I wished they checked the motor.
It ran for 3 or 4 hours and the motor went haywire. I couldn't adjust the
series governed
motor.
So I completely removed the motor and associated parts. I took the
synchronous motor
assembly out of a TT-230/FG Typing Reperforator, that Steve Garrison gave
me.
It took a while but I finally installed the Synchronous motor, starter
motor and starter
capacitor.
It has been working perfectly for 2 years 4 months. Even though the
motor is 1/30 h.p but
should be 1/20 h.p. by leaving the lights off it doesn't run too hot.
I traded the two MITE'S I used to Gene Blackburn for a Military version
HP VTVM. Again
thank you Steve for the TT-230!
                    James
