Duncan!  I think I will just order  with  eyelets already  inserted.
 I do remember  the knot  trick  from ages ago  though!
I also remember re- juicing old dried  ribbons with WD-40
to make  then  good!   ,...  what we used to  do   when money was 
in short supply in our  youth! Seemed fun at the time  but  messy!
