I remember driving from Gaithersburg to Philly in early 1979 to a surplus
warehouse that had a mountain of Selectrics equipped with RS-232 interfaces.
Picked up one for me and another for someone else at $150 each. I did have
it connected and running with my homebrew Z80, but don't remember any of the
details.

It was very cool, indeed.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Selectric Printer

As a curiousity question, does any list member have or know of a IBM
Selectric or variation running as a computer printer? I'd love to see that
little ball printing RTTY! It's been on my bucket list for many years.
