[GreenKeys] ASR33 wrong characters being typed issue

OK, I'm back already with another issue (hopefully my last one for a
while!). I had a broken keyboard on my ASR33 that I had kind of working,
but then it finally broke (while using it as a test bench for my KSR33
problems). The keyboard spring and wire end plastic piece was broken and I
had to glue it back together (the back side spacer tab, the one with the
spring in it, broke off and the other side bottom terminal strip part broke
off). Although it took forever, I got it apart and glued and put back
together (only that end, didn't take the whole keyboard apart).
Now I when I type I get some duplicate characters. For example typing a 1 I
get a 3. Typing an A I get a C. I did notice that the first (or last)
"bit" for these characters is the only difference. All the other bits are
the same. I can see this by watching the code bars move. I see that code
bar 8 moves with one of the characters and not with the other, but I get the
same character printing. In other words, it doesn't seem like code bar 8 is
doing anything.
My first question is: Since I just repaired the keyboard I suspected it
first, but if I can see the code bars changing doesn't this mean that the
keyboard is ok?
Second question: what would typically be the problem if the code bars look
like they are working, but still getting duplicate characters being printed?
Thanks in advance for any help from the group. I promise to watch future
posts and contribute to others as much as my ability allows!
PJ
