Jack,
Well, as you and all on this list know, model 28's are much sturdier than 32 or 33's. They survive pretty well even if laid on their side.
I would not rent a 32 or 33 unless I went along with it. I think that's what History 4 Hire does now. I have repaired a couple of their 33's that were returned all busted up.
The NY event sounds like fun. What is the name of the show or whatever is going on?
73,
Wayne

Subject: [GreenKeys] Teletypes for a Movie
ZCZC
I am working with some movie production people in NY
to lease them my Model 28’s (3 ASR’s and one KSR).
They are looking for another four (4) Model 28’s.
I have them well-conditioned about the safety of
my “treasures” and they have taken out an insurance
policy for them (!)…so, they are serious.
If anybody wants to offer up their 28’s for about a
month, let me know. I will be your “broker” so that
the movie folks don’t have to chase all over the
place. There will be a leasing fee that you will
be entitled to…and it’s all yours, I’m not in this
for the money…just the fun. However, I have
sent them a detailed “Lease Agreement” that
they will be signing…it would also cover your TTY’s.
(Please understand that you are not going to be able to charge
them to cover your retirement, or the cost of
a new Escalade…sadly, our TTY’s are not worth their
weight in gold!)
Let me know. They have a truck running across the country
from California in another week. You machines don’t have to
be in working condition, but they have to
be complete and clean…no rust buckets, broken glass,
etc. They should all be “Bell System Green”, if
possible.
I’ve done this three or for times in the past and
never had a problem, although I am sure the horror
stories will start to pop up on Greenkeys.
So, what type of oil do you use…?
73,
Jack K0TTY
