Another problem with the CV-89 is that it does not include a loop supply.

Go with the ST-6.  It is solid state and includes a loop supply. Just 
make sure that the unit you get has the the plugin filters you want.  
Most come with 850 hz filters (the old standard) and 170 hz (the new 
standard and used by ITTY).  Mine also has a position for 425 Hz, but no 
filter. The ST-6 is probably the best converter for its 
complexity/cost.  The only thing to watch out for with the ST-6 is that 
the plug in boards are vertical, with no support, and they tend to 
loosen up with vibration, etc.  An old ST-6 may appear dead, but just 
need its boards reseated.
