I was rummaging around through some boxes from the move and ran
across a copy of the Teleprinter Handbook by the Radio Society of Great
Briton. First edition, copyright 1973.

And there on page 6.19 under Auxiliary Equipment "Electronic Speed
Control." Now while the technology is a bit dated, it's the same thing
as I am doing. Comparing pulses generated by the rotation of the
motor against a monostable multi vibrator timebase. And using that
to operate an electronic governor switch for governed motors.

"Everything old is new again."
