I found this listing for a "2 wire loop drive adaptor" on Ebay.
It's an RS232 to TTY loop

converter. These were used in the late 1970's when Ma Bell was
starting

to convert a lot of DC copper TTY loops to "data" circuits. Most
of the TTY's were

Model 33's or 35's, so I'm not sure if this gadget could handle a
high voltage

loop.
