I just type it up in a file and then use cut-n-paste to enter it into  
automsg.

Autostart on my 28 only takes one or two  character times to come up to 
speed. 
This gives me the idea of having a  way to send the character sequence to 
power down
machines that have that  function... my 28 has a motor relay triggered by 
figs-null-h
or something  like that, I could probably have it send that to the tty on 
receipt of
some  unusual ascii character from the usb side.
