if 48 v was  good there are  lots of new  wall warts with  current to spare 
 for $15

I guess it's possible it would work.  At only 14v you'd want a very small 
resistor if
any?  I'm impressed  that would work on a 15, 14.4v is definitely not 
sufficient on my
14 reperf  (I just tried it, printed gibberish.)
