Hi Folks!
Been lurking here for a while and I'm just starting a restoration of a
model 33 teletype. It's an ASR unit with the punch & reader and had
originally been used on a PDP 8 minicomputer so its also fitted with the
start/stop control board. It was mostly working when I picked it up
around 2 years ago but the tape reader was a bit gummed up.
My aim is to get it to a point where is cleaned up and running smoothly
and to hook it up to my KIM-1 & SCELBI 8B (Replica) computers. It's
never going to be a museum quality example as it's obviously had a hard
life but I would like to look a bit more presentable :)
I've already got a set of replacement rubber hammers but I think I'm
going to need to source some other small items such as a new platten
knob, front aluminium 'Teletype' trim and possibly a couple of
replacement keys (Cracked)
Out of interest, what is the best way of restoring the keys to their
original colour?
Will probably have more questions as I go along. :)
Cheers,
Dave
