yikes We have a general radio stroboflash here somewhere.......

I feel really fortunate we were presented with a new in wrapper tuning
fork got 87.6 so good to go that way too....

Can't you use a common $25.00 optical (laser) tachometer? Do the simple
laser tachs lack sufficient accuracy or resolution for the job? What about
good old-fashioned strobe discs, illuminated by a neon + diode lamp?

The tuning fork frequency is 87.6 vps. My memory is flakey at my age but I
believe the motor rotation speed was supposed to be 1800 RPM.

When you watch the black and white blocks on the governor end of the motor
through the viewing slot on the fork, a motor that is running the correct
speed will have the blocks setting still - not drifting to the right or
left. I believe a strobe set to 87.6 flashes per second would accomplish the
same thing.

Could not some other method than a tuning fork be used? I am not at
all familiar with the calibration procedure but it seems to me that an
audio oscillator and counter could be used, or if its visual could be
used to trigger a stroboscope. This is providing the correct frequency
is known which I suppose it is.

Hi all,

as I have two machines that are in need of speed calibration and lack
the tuning fork but have a abundant amount of Arduino's, oscilloscopes
and frequency generators at my disposal, what rpm are the motors
supposed to run on. Of course these are the governed motors with the
speed changing wheel in the external interrupter part.

there are white and black blocks on the outside.

I remeber reading about a electronic speed control someone build, but I
am unable to locate the info.

Besides that, I am working on a ESP8266 to heavy metal box, so that our
beloved machines can connect to Wifi and do all kinds of stuff. the
Software Library used just passed sending serial 50 baud tests. Now I am
working on receiving part. Then finally do the internet part, but as
that part is already done by someone else, i merely need to wite the
right calls to the library for that. Then I will be able to attach the
machine to IRC , twitter, whatsapp (if available) and maybe itelex.

but first the speed issue...
