I still have and use my Globalstar satellite phone, somewhat bigger than a
modern cell phone and with a little practice it is not hard to use-

For casual use, yes, for emergency medical requests "any means possible."
I would suggest something like this: A simplex phone patch.

Another option is the classic cordless phone. Put the base up as high and
clear as possible. Weatherproof box etc on pole for example.
Then test your available range with the handsets.
The old 399 MHz sets had the potential for extended range with a better
antenna on the base.
Yet another option is calling one of those home health/security companies.
And asking them what kind of coverage/range they can offer on the "I've
fallen and can't get up" pendants.
