I've seen mention in a few places that the US military used to transmit teletype via "moon bounce" - that is to say, by reflecting a radio broadcast off the moon. For example, here :
https://airandspace.si.edu/stories/editorial/operation-moon-bounce
"By January 1956, the U.S. Navy could transmit teletype signals to and from Stump Neck and Wahiawa on the island of Oahu, Hawaii."
Anyone have any links or books that might cover it it in more detail?
That would be some kind of a challenge for the upcoming ARRL RTTY contest... though I'm not sure offhand if the frequencies used are feasible for a moon bounce.
