I think the equipment and operation of torn-tape message relay centers is
quite fascinating.

The AN/FGC-38 system is a basic building block for a torn-tape relay center
- it includes a receiver unit (4 typing reperfs), a transmitter unit (6
message TDs plus 3 message numbering TDs), and a monitor unit (3 typing
reperfs plus time stamps)
