[GreenKeys] Listening....

Hello, everyone,

I'm Jim W1JT located just south of Boston MA.

At one time I had 4 model 28's setup in my shack, each was tuned to a
different receiver and I would monitor Reuters, AP, Tass and UPI
generally. I had them all setup with AutoStart of course. it was fun
to see and hear them start up when a bulletin was coming across. I
remember when Anwar Sadat was shot, the machines were going crazy!

As a ham I would also often get on 20 meters or some other frequency and
have long rag chews on my 28 with many friends.

A number of years ago I got tired of RTTY and got rid of my machines.

Well, about 6 months ago I came across one in an old barn, haggled for
it and dragged it home. I've now got it up and running and it's
working great.

What I'm finding however is that there's not much to listen to.

It seems the RTTY hams now just do quick "599 thanks for contact 73"
type of QSO's, there seems to be no more news coming from anywhere...in
short things seem very quiet.

I did find WLO in Mobile AL and they broadcast weather reports and other
reports of interest on 8.472 MHZ. It's fun for a while but I'm hoping
for more.

Other then that, I'm not really hearing much. Oh I am aware of ITTY
and it's great, but I'm looking for stuff to listen to on the radio.

So, what are you folks doing with your machines?

Thanks and 73
Jim W1JT
