Hi all...
Roy's posting w/attached warning notice of using Simple Green
was very interesting reading...
This may explain in an earlier posting where I had mentioned
seeing pictures of a "White" substance forming on a M15 typing unit
after cleaning with Simple Green...
The original contributor of the post had mentioned
how difficult and time consuming it was to remove it
especially in tight areas...
I don't. know what the strength of his mixture was, but this perhaps
wud make a difference if the concentrate was too strong,
not being diluted enuf...
Back to Roy's posting, it is interesting how it can affect aluminum
parts, and in the case of a M15 typing unit, (Later production),
there are a lot of aluminum parts...
I agree with the posters who have mentioned, heat and/or
a thorough drying is essential when using any cleaning medium...
As far as the felts are concerned, it wud be a major problem
if the residual oil in the felts is displaced by a (Water based) cleaner...
If using a non-solvent based cleaner, I wud be really concerned
about the felt issue...
Regarding the reports of a "Second" type of Simple Green cleaner,
I have seen two types for sale in Walmart, Massena, NY,
I am going over there next week, and I will investigate
further and report the findings...
A very interesting topic, and tks all for their input...
Cheers!
Ken
