Wayne, just one more ; )

It's certainly not like it was selling on ebay a few years ago. One new
complication is the star rating system. You might have noticed sellers
going out of their way to make sure you contact them immediately if there's
a problem with the purchase, rather than contacting ebay or giving a poor
rating. Reason being, anything less than perfection affects your 'defect
rating'. Scammers have realized this and are taking advantage of the fact
that many sellers would rather let the buyer keep the item than have a case
opened for a (false) claim and affect their rating.

As a seller you are only allowed up to a 2% 'defect rate' over the most
recent evaluation period before ebay takes action (limiting your sales,
affecting search order placement, increasing final value fees, reduction in
listing incentives/bonuses and/or giving you the boot). If you're a
top-rated seller that limit tightens to 0.5%! All it takes is giving
someone a couple 4-star ratings instead of a 5 to screw them over.
Apparently 4 does not equal "Good" and 5 "Excellent". It's better to give
no star-feedback than anything less than a 5.

Maybe USPS took the long way to get the 3-day priority shipment
there....eBay asks 'did the package arrive by the specified date'. You
click "no". Boom, another demerit. Was the item as described? "Well, the
shirt is a little more blue in real life, but overall I'm satisfied, so
I'll rate this a 3." Boom, another ding. It makes it very tough for honest
sellers to stay in the game.
