I just ran across this in my inbox, I had meant to reply earlier.  For
those who don't remember, the question was regarding an under-filtered
DC power supply providing 120 V @ 750 mA to the solenoid on the WU 2-A
perforator.

Long story short ... it's a lot of ripple.  ;-)  The first few cycles
are probably less (I didn't capture it), but once the solenoid is
locked in there's something like 70 V of ripple.  The solenoid doesn't
seem to care, though!
