EE-626, April 1948 - Changes to Bulletin 144 to Include the Model 15
Printer (with Combined Base-Keyboard) for Shipboard Use

The Model 15 printer set for shipboard use is basically the same
as the standard Model 15 printer and has the same operating characteristics
except that this set is designed and equipped so that it may be operated
while tilted as much as 45 degrees. The variations from the standard set
follow:
TYPING UNIT
The Model 15 typing unit is provided with aluminum side frames
designed to decrease weight and increase strength.
In order to insure proper carriage return from any length of line
while the printer is tilted at angles up to 45 degrees, the typing unit has
been equipped with a new carriage return spring drum assembly with a
stronger
spring, a larger dashpot for better cushion effect, and newly designed
carriage parts made of lighter weight material.
BASE-KEYBOARD
The base and keyboard have been combined into a one piece aluminum
casting to provide a more rigid construction and lighter weight. Provisions
are made for mounting it on vibration mounts in its associated apparatus
cabinet. The unit further differs from the standard base and keyboard in
that the motor slip connections have been eliminated and terminal screw
electrical connections between the motor and base-keyboard have been
substituted. The keyboard jack springs, line relay, and motor control relay,
normally found on the standard base, have been omitted.
