Jeff,
This should appeal to those who wish to get on-the-air with ancient digital technology but don't like contests.
I am in!
Much fun in having a chat via Real RTTY.  Agree about the ban on brag tapes.   Now, we will find out for sure as to who can still type on a teleprinter, dumb terminal, etc.
Thanks for suggesting this!!!

Subject: [GreenKeys] About a "Straight Key Night" for RTTY

I have long wanted to promote such a thing. But I think that limiting it to just heavy metal RTTY would make for limited participation. Let me try this instead:
- Get on the air with the oldest equipment you can scrape together. Real heavy metal Teletypes to be sure, but if that isn't available: hardware modems, VT100 terminals, pre-Windows computers, etc. And vacuum tubes. ;) But whatever you do, join in!
- NO BRAG TAPES. Please no pre-recorded messages. Have a real conversation by hand typing it. If you are slow we'll happily wait. A CQ macro is okay but you would have better bragging rights if you hand typed that too.
I personally own no heavy metal but this could get me to get my old CP/M machine up and running again.
