I am also not familiar with the M28, at least as far as
details of the spools. However, as a typewriter collector I've
found it necessary to rewind ribbons onto old spools. Very easy.
Helps to have a jig with a couple of pegs or even just nails in
it to hold the spools and use the eraser end of a pencil to crank
the spool I suggest gloves to keep your fingers from getting
stained by the ink. Hard to get off but won't hurt you. _Always_
save old spools, you never know when they will come in handy.
There are a number of sources for ribbons, I usually get mine
from Baco. Nylon lasts longer than cotton but cotton prints
darker. There used to be silk ribbons but I think nylon has
pretty much replaced them.
