[GreenKeys] Mod 28 newby question - typing unit removal?

First you have to remove the cabinet trim piece above the keyboard, by
loosing the thumb screw inside the cabinet to the right of the trim piece.
Loosen the screw then slide the trim piece to the right and pull away from
cabinet. Then finally slide the piece to the left to remove entirely.

To remove the entire base unit that contains the keyboard there are four hex
shaped bolts (they also have slots so you can use a screwdriver) in the four
corners of the base that attach the base to the cabinet.

The base unit can also be tilted forward at the front of the cabinet by
removing the two bolts on the rear cross member; the one the rear hex shaped
bolts are used to attach the base unit to the cross member. The two front
hex shaped bolts are actually screwed into a hinged cross member that allows
the whole unit to pivot up. There is a lever on the right side of the
cabinet that has no use until you rotate the base unit up and then it
becomes a prop to hold the base unit up and to prevent the unit from falling
back down into the cabinet.

Sort of like the rod under the hood of cars used to hold up the hoods of
those without big springs or gas filled cylinders.

Hope that helps.

So ok, I've had many 14s, 15s, 19s - can take 'em apart, put 'em back
together, etc etc.

But, however, comma:

I've looked through as much of the basic Mod 28 info as I can find, but
it's still not completely clear to me just how one gets the typing unit
/ keyboard assy out of the cabinet and onto the bench for further work,
such as counting gearteeth, etc. ..

It's in the standard KSR pedestal cabinet, model escapes me but I was
just looking at that in a manual last night. No LESU in the back, just
blank covers, all electronics in the pedestal.

In the immortal words of ALF the alien: "Why must you needlessly
complicate EVERYTHING???"
