[GreenKeys] Basic autostart question

John,

>From at least one of the other replies, I don't think the M15 itself can turn its motor on/off, but there may be models that can. I've only had one M15 in the past and that one could not control its own motor.

I currently have two M28KSRs that have some external motor control, You could implement the same control as I'm using with your M15 and M28s as well. One of my M28s has a SSR (Solid State Relay) controlled AC outlet that the M28 is plugged into that turns the entire machine off after a period of inactivity. Then the machine powers up again once the loop becomes active again. The other M28 has the loop sense circuitry and the SSR mounted in the LESU, so nothing is need externally. When this M28 has the motor turned off it is only the motor, not the rest of the power into the machine. Obviously I did some rewiring of the LESU, but documented it with a nice schematic for the next lucky guy or gal that inherits this beauty.

What are you using to demod your ITTY tones? I'm using Volpe's Demod board most of the time (sometimes a ST-6 or Dovetron)) and for the motor control, a board from K0TTY (who is now a SK), connected to a SSR.

Hope that helps.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Basic autostart question

Greetings Greenkeys Friends -

I subscribed to GK for several years, several years ago. Newly retired, I'm back to playing with some of my neglected toys.

I am currently running a Mod 15, Mod 28KSR, and Mod 33ASR.

A friend has a number of TTY machines, and I told him of ITTY. He would like to have his Mod15RO (with a nice ASSOCIATED PRESS placard on it) be operational with autostart - wake up, print something, go back to sleep.

I have spent some time researching this, but the actual 'orthodox'
electronic / electrical method of how ITTY communicates Autostart isn't clear yet. So given I have ITTY, and a working TU, loop supply, etc., and a Mod15 - how does the relay

in the 15 know when to start, and stop, the motor?

I can copy ITTY FB, can read it using FLDIGI, and as soon as the 15 gets finished with it's lube/tweak/adj work on the bench, I'll use it and the
28 for printing ITTY in the shack.

TIA!
