Hi All,
I have been posting a lot on Greenkeys, but without Photobucket, I did not post any photos. Now I have signed up with Flickr, and I will show some of what I have been working on. I have left out the semi-obligatory feline photos this time.
First, I want to show off my machines. The first is a shot of my Model 28 that the late Jack K0TTY gave to me along with a loop supply and black box to connect between a RS-232 and current loop. The unit on the left is my somewhat cantankerous Mailbox 15, which I bought off of a meth head who was at a scrap yard with it. He needed his next fix, I guess. Both units wear Western Union dress.

Next is my Model 28 tape printer that Gil Smith gave to me. It works perfectly except that the line counter does not work. I will wait until I can find a TTY guru to look at it to see what is wrong. All I had to do with this is clean it, lubricate it and put the two jewels into the end of line light and the low tape light. I cannot find gummed tape for it, but I have five rolls of ungummed tape. It is probably best that I do not find gummed tape, because then I would have to find an old Telegram and have some new blanks made up, including the correct paper. That would be a hassle.I suspect.

Next is something that is not TTY related, TELEPHONES! On this shelf live several of my 500s and a 2500. I buy them cheap, oxidized and beat up, and then I sand and polish them to look brand new. I try to do one a month. (The black one is a hard to find two line unit complete with a turn key to switch lines.) One of my dreams is to have a SXS Strowger CO out in my garage and hook all of these babies up and be able to play telephones!

Next is the 1950's radio cabinet that I have used to contain my TTY gear in. I will use this to connect every thing together, and will be where all of the working TTY machines will be connected to where the loop power supplies will be located. From this cabinet I will be able to connect any machine to any other machine and to the FSK unit that I hope to be able to purchase sometime this year. Do not worry, this does not live outside. I just rolled it out to photograph it. It has casters.

The oscilloscope is a TTY unit that was part of a huge Naval multiplex device. It powers on but does not work.
The jack panels are below the o-scope.There are three rows of jacks (Western Electric). The bottom two rows of jacks are loops with six separate loops available. The top row of jacks will go to the individual machines, the FSK unit and demodulators.
Next is a shot of the inside of this cabinet from the back.

Notice how I laced all of the wires together and then mounted them to the side of the inside of the cabinet with clamps. This was not a quick process. I am probably the only soul that buys lacing twine from my local electronics dealer. He has to order it in for me.
Well, that is it. I held to my promise not to bore you with a bunch of photos of cats, though they seem to like to hang out with me in the Teletype room. It is warmer in there than the rest of the house, especially in the winter by about ten degrees. Cats love heat.
The next thing for the cabinet is a jack panel with RCA jacks for audio (such as from radio receivers, ITTY, etc. to link the audio source to various demodulators.
Also, I need to obtain some loop power supplies, especially since I just dinged the one that Jack K0TTY gave me years ago. I accidentally dropped it when it was powered on, and it died in a shower of sparks and burnt electronics smoke. Thank God it did not have selenium rectifiers in it. I will make a panel on the front with the power switches for the loop supplies complete with a pilot light for each power supply.
I hope that you found these pictures and the narrative enjoyable!
Best to all,
Joe KB0TXC
