[GreenKeys] Slightly OT - Churchill War Room

Hi All -
Just returned from a trip to London (we started out on the ill-fated Viking Sky, but that's another story, much further off topic...), and while we were there, we got to tour the Churchill War Rooms and Museum.  Interestingly, I didn't see any teletypes!  Plenty of phones, and even a Remington "noiseless" typewriter, but absolutely no TTY's.  I thought that was strange.  Anyone on the list have any knowledge about why this was so?  We were told that Churchill hated noise, and perhaps a room full of those clattering beasts would've been too much for him.  Also, the docent claimed that the secure line to the US was encrypted using the first digital voice encryption - something called Sigsaly, which was presumably destroyed, like Colossus  - I need to google it, but once again, any crypto people on the list have any knowledge of this?
Unfortunately, I didn't make it to Bletchley Park - hope one day to visit the UK again and make it out there...
Cheers,
Keith
