As for what it actually stands for, I don't know. It's a good guess
that the S is for "system" or "set" and C as a middle letter is for
"component" The L might be the Model 28 line code but that's just
a guess. And I think the V is probably just a line code like L is
for Model 28/35 and B for Model 15 and F for Model 14 and U for Model
32/33.
The fact that you cite a wiring diagram package for four different
VSL numbers suggests those are four different sets that are all
wired alike, or with slight differences that are noted in the diagrams.
They might be Model 28 sets with different speed gearing or different
stunt boxes and character sets.
