If you send something like that via ITTY, I would think you would want to send the data in its original format:
KSAN 022351Z 15007KT 10SM FEW060 BKN170 BKN200 BKN250 28/15 A2992 RMK AO2 SLP131 OCNL LTGIC DSNT E CB DSNT E AND SE MOV NW 60000 T02780150 10300 20261 56010=
This is the METAR format adopted in North America in 1996. METAR was used beginning in 1968 internationally. The NWS teletypes had 2 types of print boxes. The original font boxes (at least for M28) and then regular type boxes that eliminated the special font. The font box had the arrows for wind direction and the circles for clouds (scattered, broken, overcast). NWS changed the code (mid to late 60s?) to avoid using the special font type boxes since they became harder to maintain and the print was harder for human reading (arrows and circles were hard for pilots and weather people to read when the type alignment was slightly off or low ink). So the Surface Airways (SA’s) code was then changed to degrees for wind direction and SCT, BKN, OVC instead of the circles.
Ah yes....the fun days of plotting weather maps from these codes.
Hope they helps.
