And so where are the snubbers?  Are they typically across the coil in these
machines already or do they need to go across any contact or keying element
(ie, solid-state switch) that could make or break the loop?

What if you have a snubber across multiple keying elements and they're
all in series in the same loop, is that OK?  I guess I'm wondering if the
snubber should be thought of like a terminator and there's only one in any
loop?? or is the snubber there to protect each thing that can open or close
the loop and so there's potentially multiple in any loop?

Thanks for the analysis from here too.  It's fun to study.
