I don't know all of the differences between the ST-8000 and the ST-8000A, but the "A" model
had digital displays for shift settings and several other features. The 8000 model had a CRT
to display the signal characteristics. I've forgotten how this was displayed on the "A" model,
even though I had one in my basement for a year or two. I only put power to it to see if it
'lit up' as advertised, and played around with the shift settings, etc. Never put it to use. and
peddaled it at a slight loss to another G/K person, I think.
Both are top notch units. Each may have one or two features that the other does not have.
I suspect that other G/K people will have some things to say about them, or about the 8000
model, anyway.
That price which showed when I took a quick look a few minutes ago is considerably less
than I paid for the ST-8000A. No telling what it will sell for, though.
For now,

Subject: [GreenKeys] HAL ST-8000
Since today seems to be the day for talking about eBay items, I’m watching this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/HAL-ST-8000-Ham-Radio-Communications-FSK-RTTY--HF-Modem-ST8000-TX-RX/324117605178
I am not bidding and will not, but was curious to see if anyone has experience with this particular unit. Price seems to be getting up there. Is it rare or special?
I’m using the ST8000A for ITTY and it is a very different looking device
