And lookee there! There is a very beautiful Kleinschmidt TT-98 just to the right of the M15.
Nice haircut. Quite the "Beatles" look!

GA OMs;
I got licensed as a Novice in 1967. I made General class about a year or two later. I got involved in Air Force MARS. It turns out that the Net Control Station was about a 1/2 mile away. He invited me over to see his station. Now, at this point I had made friends with several local hams. They had rigs manufactured for Amateur Radio. When this guy led me to the garage - where he had all sorts of military equipment, I was IN HEAVEN!!!
Everything was soooooo coooool!!!
He showed me around. When he got to the Teletype machine I asked him what they are for. He explained it - and then got on one machine and put me on the other - and put them on the same local loop. We talked back & forth and I was mesmerized!
Shortly after that I got introduced to a local war surplus store. He had a model 15 that was in good shape. I bought it for $75.oo - which would be like $750.oo by today's standards.
One other guy that was in AF MARS gave me a hand on setting it up for local tests. He had me clean it up. Then he showed me an article in the ARRL HAND BOOK and I built my first T.U.
I got it up and running on RECEIVE and then worked on getting it to transmit. When I was able to stumble around making a QSO, I invited some of the other ham friends that I had to "come and see something REALLY COOOL!" They came by and in few months time we have a net on 15 Meters at night (the band was closed down but we were just a mile or two away).
Everyone really enjoyed running RTTY.
Attached is a picture of me around 1969.
