[GreenKeys] How did you acquire your Teletypes?

The first one I ever had (in 1967, high school) was on loan from a local 
ham.  The first ones  I actually owned,  in 1970, were model 15s being 
discarded at the Air force base I was assigned to. I later gave them  to 
friends when I moved.  They  set up a link with AFSK modems into CB 
radios.  Later in the 70s, just expressing an interest would yield many 
offers for a few dollars or less. Most of these, however, were hacked on 
or incomplete. You might need to find and accept two or more to build a 
good one.  Surplus Kleinschmidts were abundant for $10.00 or free at 
hamfests. Model 28s were around, but cost a good bit more.  I passed all 
of mine on to other people in the 1980s, but regained interest about 
fifteen years ago and have been slowly collecting and restoring them.  
Almost all of these have been located via the internet,  they are not 
seen so often at hamfests any more. Shipping or traveling to pick them 
up has been the greatest expense. Once the virus is controlled and 
hamfests return, I may try carrying a "Teletypes Wanted" sign  and see 
who responds.
