Hi all!
Many thanks to those GK’ers who took the time to post replies/comments
about my dial scale “Scuffing” issue...
It seems the scuffing problem on the surface of the dial plate
may have been caused by “Box rub” during shipping where,
the bubble wrap (Large size) had been in contact with the dial
plate for an extended time during many miles of travel...
The radio was very tightly wrapped and heavily taped,
so it is possible this was the cause...
As the chassis and front dial plate are recessed into the cabinet
by about half an inch, there is no likely way the scuffing could have
been by normal handling and operation...
The scuffed areas seem to line up with the spacing between the large
bubbles on the bubble wrap...
An interesting observation, as it seems a possibility...
For those of us who buy and sell/trade radio gear,
it is something to consider when packing an item
great care should be taken around the dial plate area,
especially plastic ones, to avoid direct contact
with the packing materials...
Thanks again for the great tips and help I have received
regarding this issue...
