Aha! My Navy AN/UGC-6K 28 ASR has that solenoid and defeat lever. I was wondering what they were there for; I just assumed it was for an optional remote keyboard lock. I wasn't aware that it was related to the crypto sync pulse discussion threads. I still have a LOT to learn about these machines.
