Use a text-only mail reader like I do?  Using a browser for anything other 
than, err, browsing the net is simply asking for trouble.

I use Alpine (for Unix-like systems) if that helps, but there may be 
Windoze versions available.

I also find that "lynx" (a text browser) is helpful at times, when 
examining suspicious web sites.
