    Who knows how Galvin came up with the name but _ola_ is from 
Latin and is used as a diminuitive. As a nick name it goes back 
to at least viola and Pianola, for a player piano. Possibly 
pianola was the inspiration for Victrola, a music making machine 
made by the Victor company. This is c.1890s. A very common suffix 
for mechanical music machines of various sorts. Motorola was used 
by Galvin for its line of automobile radios, among the first on 
the market if not the first. However the suffix ola predates 
electronics and maybe mechanics too.
     I have lusted after a pair of BC-611s since I was a little 
kid. Maybe some day.
