I never had a picture of this, didn't think I'd ever be able to show anyone. This is the same type of "rack" I used while stationed in Japan in the Air Force. As you can see, the operator has four of each thing. Multiply that by the all the racks we had and the printer noise was pretty loud. I have tinitus but bad. It really brought up a lot of emotions when I found this to reply to Jim with - apparantly, wanting to set up my own TTY "station" was a good idea, therapy-wise. Due to a very attractive but rather abrasive supervisor, the area my workstation was in had been nick-named "The Dungeon". Rather embarrassing for her when an expose appeared in the squadron newsletter about this...about that, I mean, sorry.

Attached is a picture of what is obviously a work-in-progress but not
in much progress. This is a console from an FAA flight service station
circa 1960. It was made by one of the rack cabinet companies, perhaps
Premier Metal. (see their catalog on the web) The one I have was special
for the FAA, in that below the rack panel sloped space there is a space
of 4" x 5" and 4" x 2 1/2" rails because they had various little control
units that fit in such spaces.
