I've had unreadable print on the tape on the 14 reperf. I started digging
into it this evening and found that the platen pad is falling apart.

I see the platen pad as part number 111603 at
https://www.navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/1082b-5708.pdf#page=20 .

https://www.navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/1082b-5708.pdf#page=70 says "When
it is necessary to replace a platen w/ insert in an old style platen
block, a 111602 brass insert is required in addition to the 111603 plastic
insert. New style platen blocks do not require the brass insert."

I don't know if I have an old or new style platen block. Picking the
pieces of plastic out of the platen block, it looks like the platen would
just be a cylindrical piece of plastic that is pressed into place. Is this
correct?

I don't suppose anyone has a platen for the 14 typing reperf. If not, I'll
give Mr. RTTY a call.

THANKS!

Harold
