Jim & Duncan, et al

I saw one of the 'vertical machines' back in 1969 or 70. I was told it was a
"BRPE" perf for high speed operation. And, it also was a 'fully punched'
arrangement. I could have had it for probably fifty bucks, or so, but just
had no specific use for it.

For duplicating picture tapes, it would have been a great machine. Looking
back, I don't know if I missed out on a good thing or not. But, at that time,
fifty bucks was a lot of money. I was probably making around $14 per hour
then. Fifty bucks was easily a month's worth of lunches at the plant cafeteria!

Thanks for the images and info.

Teletype Corp originally referred to that machine as the "Single Magnet
Reperforator" (Bul. No. 147). I think it must have been Teletype Corp.'s
first reperforator. It was also know as the "RPE" model. ("Single
Magnet" refers to the fact that it was a Stop-Start, serial machine, as
opposed to the synchronous machines that had 5 magnets.)

It was typically used with the M19 and sat on a little dolly that rolled
under the M19 desk. There was a later version that had the same case,
but had a M14 reperf inside.

For details on how to wind tape, see RTTY Magazine, OCT 1977 (enclosed)

Have fun,
