I recently picked up a lot from the estate of a former engineer. One of the
items included was an 'Expandor' printer, which I believe is a Mite 123P
teleprinter that has been adapted for computer use by Expandor. Pics here:

I'm kind of curious how the printhead works. From what I can see, the paper
is tractor fed, and comes up in such a way that the printhead is on one side
while the hammer and ribbon are on the *other* side of the paper. I'm not
understanding how that would work - in every other printer/teleprinter I've
seen the head *is* the hammer and strikes the ribbon which in turn strikes
the page.

I'm hoping to get this beast working - I plugged it in and nothing really
happened. For some reason the ground wire from AC mains is just sort of
loose in there. It has a little metal hook but isn't attached to anything -
only hot and neutral. I'm not sure if I should be hearing any whirring
noises etc or if it only makes noise when it's actually engaged to print
something. I'm trying to find more documentation from Expandor to figure
out how it was set up, but I understand their modifications were to allow it
to accept parallel ascii.
