At the suggestion of Andreas Müller, I tried plugging my cellphone
mic/earphone into the cheap tablet (Envizen EM63 TX) I have. I then
started Morse Code Reader which gives a level versus time graph. Moving
the microphone closer to the receiver speaker made the signal go up, and
moving it away made it go down. Since I was not moving the tablet, the
plugged in microphone was clearly working. So, undocumented feature!
My transceiver ( https://w6iwi.org/SEA245/ ) has a "tristate audio bus"
between the control head and the transceiver. I have the Flesher TU-170
(modified to drive the bus in transmit and be a high impedance input on
receive) driving that bus. I'll add a 10k:10k audio transformer and an
audio attenuator so the bus will also drive the EM63 TX.
Droid RTTY can also be used to transmit RTTY, but I'd rather type on a
model 15 than a touch screen.
