Electric toothbrushes work well too.  A “Spinbrush” has rapid rotary and reciprocating motion.  It got into corners and tight spots to clean a very dirty LPR, using alcohol in a small spray bottle. It also did a good job on black wrinkle finishes on 15s, using diluted liquid dish washing soap.
