Nice little video. I wish there was a little tour of the set and some history or if it was modeled after some other commercial unit, etc. Hopefully the AWA can do a nice video on it. Lets get Brian KN4R on the task!

Yes, the copper-clap bottles are Leyden jars (aka capacitors). They are part of the tank circuit of the transmitter.

Don't know about a plan for a video of Blue Lightening, but its a good idea.  I'll suggest it.

The AWA Museum recently received a donation of "Blue Lightning", a replica of a 1910, 1/2 KW, Synchronous Rotary Spark Gap Transmitter.  It had been built by N4GG, in memory of his father, 2NJ.

This is not "OT", as can be seen in the next picture

The motor driving the rotary spark gap is a "standard of the industry" unit:
