[GreenKeys] ASR 33 with strange symptom

Hi Bill,
I don't have a 33, but I like to speculate based on limited last century
experience with a 33.
The punch just operates from the same code bars the printer does. So
they should do the same thing unless there is a specific issue internal
to one or the other after the code bars.
You say you have two 33s, have you connected them to where they talk to
each other? I would think that would help isolate the problem. I
forget, is the UCC6 the private line version or Telex? If Telex that
becomes complicated, I guess.
The reader is more independent from the keyboard than the punch if from
the printer. Do you get same results from both assuming a good tape?
If so then I think that points to the printer, and I'd lean towards a
selector area problem.
Is it a random problem or constant? If you type alternating SG (I think
that's the ASCII equivalent to RYs)
Perhaps you've gotten the same from direct emails, but I thought I'd
throw them out anyhow. Some times my rambling triggers an idea in
someone else that's useful.
