There was I guess a prototype of that ticker operating in the R&D
lobby at Teletype Skokie, long before the NYSE got delivery of the
new tickers and cut over to them.  So R&D people wanting to check
on their investments could watch the market in their spare time; but
I guess the real reason for the machine was to see what if anything
would break down before the machines were committed to production.
It was geared down to run at the old speed of 600 char/min.
